I went to see the Harry Potter movie, but when I arrived there was already a line of about twenty people outside the theater for the next showing at 6:30. As much as I was looking forward to the film, it’s not worth standing around in 91° heat for an hour.

Grilled sirloin steaks for dinner last night. Also threw together a salad with hearts of romaine, a mustard vinaigrette, freshly grated parmesan, and some croutons. Pillsbury biscuits and cottage cheese for sides.

Steak dinners w/ salad

It was good, though I must confess I cooked the steaks a little too much; three of the four were medium or medium well.

Last night’s Kathy Griffin: MLotDL was awesome. Amazingly enough, they didn’t milk the hell out of her “gay porn awards show” appearance. Just when I’d begun to accept her shameless pandering as an involuntary compulsion, she suprises me by showing a little decorum. I think the fact that she made the choice in the face of such a cornucopia of comedic material shows a heretofore unknown level of class for Ms. Griffin.

The shows she did for the prison in Arizona, and the tours/research beforehand, were terrific. I could’ve done without the “sobbing on command” for the plight of the inmates, but other than that it was funny and oddly enlightening. Best part: The stalker from the men’s facility. They should bring him back in a later episode after he gets out.

Okay, time to deep-fry a batch of buffalo wings and watch the new episode of Top Chef!

You are going to post a recipe for those Buffalo wings, right?

Aw man, steaks medium to medium well? I did the same thing a couple days ago, and I’m still bent over it. And cottage cheese with steaks, eh?

Sadly, the wings come from a bag, frozen. I just deep-fry ‘em in 375° vegetable oil for 3 minutes. They were delicious anyway (so much crispier than with an oven). But I made my own mustard dipping sauce… Pics were taken for tomorrow’s post. :P

Re: steaks: Ugh, I know! Sucks, huh? These were a little leaner and thinner than what I’m used to. Re: cottage cheese: I think it goes brilliantly with steak. And when the creamy whey mixes with the steak juices and you mop it up with the biscuit? Mmm!
