I took a three hour nap this afternoon. Kind of a bad idea; made the whole day fly by. Normally, that wouldn’t really be a bad thing per se, but I have so much crap to do. Prolly be up late tonight writing papers. And that damn nap didn’t even make me feel rested… if anything, I’m more tired now than I was at 3:00.

Made fajitas last night. They were good, but a little too spicy. See, when I was at Safeway I was going to get the red jalapeños that I’m used to — the ones I’ved used in chili a few times. But Brett was like, “Hey, look, these green jalapeños are four bucks less per pound.” So I got a few of those. As it turns out, the greens are like eighty billion scovilles hotter than the reds. Even now, I can still feel a weird heat under my fingernails, despite repeated hand washings. And I barely even touched the things — I was pretty efficient with the de-seeding and julienning.

Anywho, I used round steak instead of skirt for the meat because the skirt steak the store had was priced much higher. I’m not sure why… it’s way less versatile IMHO. Meant to take pictures, but I forgot.

Talked to Nolan (one of my Federal Way friends) on AIM tonight. He’s starting to get into Magic: the Gathering Online, so I updated my client and we played a few games. For some reason, the game just isn’t doing it for me like it used to. Maybe I’m just too out of date since I haven’t been following the last few set releases very closely.

That French Paint It, Black/Metal Gear Solid YouTube video I linked yesterday got me watching a bunch of others by the same artist (Marie Laforêt). I really like some of her songs. Mon Amour, Mon Ami is especially nice. I wish I could go check out some MP3s of hers, but OiNK is a little shaky lately. (I heard from a friend of a friend that it may have been infiltrated by RIAA/fed-types and supposedly that spurred some kind of move out of the UK to a more data haven-friendly country, hence the new .cd TLD. OiNK says it’s because of DNS issues, but at least a couple people I’ve talked to say they no longer trust the site and won’t use it for a few weeks to be sure. I dunno, it might all just be conspiracy theory BS.)

I don’t watch it, but I thought this “re-imagining” of main characters from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy was pretty amusing:

I find it a touch odd that you’re more used to the less-common red jalapenos than the common-as-dirt greens.

I’m very un-adventuresome when it comes to (potentially) spicy ingredients. And I had experience with the red ones from a chili con carne recipe a couple years back. They worked really well so I just kept using them.
