So last night Jones, Brett, and I grabbed some fast food in Moscow and watched This Film Is Not Yet Rated. Great documentary. I only have two nitpicks: One, it focuses on the private investigator and her family too much. (Who cares how she does her job? It’s irrelevant to the subject. She should only have had a minute or two of screen time — instead, she dominates the movie as a main character.) Two, the movie felt like it ended halfway through; it seemed like there was a lot of material they didn’t get to. I would’ve liked an extra thirty minutes or more.

The interviews were all great. Kevin Smith and John Waters’ remarks were hilarious. (Speaking of Kevin Smith, today Jones and I watched the Toronto disc of his An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder DVD set. Good stuff.)

Jones is dragging me back into Magic. We did a sealed deck thing a couple nights ago and today we went to S & P Hobbies in Moscow and got some Planar Chaos and Future Sight boosters. I can’t believe how powerful the Time Spiral block is. Future Sight actually has a card in it that’s a 1/1 dryad that’s also a forest. It doesn’t have a mana cost — it’s free. Here’s the StarCityGames listing. A free creature with no drawbacks! This has got to be throwing off the game’s balance, right? These new sets are just crazy.

My ankle is seriously messed up now. It actually didn’t hurt on Friday, but then I walked on it a whole lot when I was doing clinic stuff and must’ve damaged something. I think I’m going to have to get crutches if it doesn’t get a whole lot better soon — I almost can’t walk on it anymore. Icing it seems to help.

Wii Sports’ Tennis is super fun with three people. It’d prolly be even better with a fourth.

TotD:

What is your favorite freeware game (free to play, such as a downloadable game) you’ve ever played, and why?

That’s a tough one. It’s hard for me to think of a game I’ve really liked that was totally free. Like, Marble Blast and Armadillo Run were good, but their free versions were just demos with like 15-30 playable levels. Hm. Zone.com’s Hearts game, I guess? But that’s not really downloadable. Ooh, I know — MTGO. Their client is free and I believe you can login and play theme decks without buying anything.

Okay, gotta get going — we’re seeing Spider-Man 3 at 9:50.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Tim dropped out of the IMBC last night. Too bad. Tim, what happened? He made it 34 days though — that’s nothing to sneeze at. But we’re down to four participants now. Should get a little more interesting.

We can Xray your ankle when you come home. Hey, did you get registered??

  2. Tim:

Yea, my dad and stepmom were out of town, so I had to take care of my stepbrother and stepsister, then my mom calls to tell me that my cousin Ricky and his girlfriend took a dive whilst riding on a four wheeler, and he had a bleeding mass in the middle of his brain (inoperable). Luckily, this morning she called back and said that he’s up and walking, and that they think the bleeding has stopped, but he’ll probably never play football again.
