I’m back from the dog show. The people who run the parking are super nice. I had to work the loading/unloading area, which mostly consists of running up to people’s cars and telling them to turn on their hazard lights and clear the area within fifteen minutes. Oh, and giving directions to the various parking areas and show rings. But I felt pretty useless when I wasn’t doing anything (which was most of the time), so I offered to carry stuff for anyone who wanted help. One lady actually tipped me two bucks. It seemed kind of funny to me since I’ve never had a job that involved tipping.

I mostly worked with Bill (a 69 year-old air force vet) and Josh (a nice retarded guy who’s been to 113 dog shows with his professional handler dad). Bill and I BSed about planes, Don Imus, and ice bullets while Josh chatted up every lady under 40 who walked by. I’m not used to being outside for 10 hours at a time and I got sunburned. At least it only stings on my forehead and around my mouth. Tomorrow I’ll apply some SPF 30 before I head out.

Bob, the guy in charge of the whole parking operation, is a retired English teacher. He’s surprisingly generous with the people he employs for these things — he insisted on reimbursing me for gas and gave us all five bucks each for lunch. (You have to work while you eat, but them paying for it is pretty awesome.) BTW, I had the most amazing foot-long corndog I’ve ever tasted. The batter the guy uses for ‘em is something else — it tastes almost like a waffle, or one of those little doughnuts you can buy at the Daily Dozen in Pike Place Market. The way it’s fried is nothing short of perfection — a thick crunchy, carmelized surface over a soft, fluffy, sweet interior. It was so rich that I didn’t have room for any funnel cake afterwards (but Josh did — it looked and smelled extremely good; they come with a big dollop of yellowish custard/frosting in the center).

I’m super bushed now. The rest of my Wii stuff arrived today (the system itself and the extra remote) but I’m way too tired to set it up. Something to look forward to for Tuesday night, I guess. I can’t wait to try Super Paper Mario.

Okay, time for bed… I have to get up at 4:00 AM tomorrow and I only got like three hours of sleep last night.
