I took my two daughters and they didn't seem all that sad (they are 9 and 6). The commercials are about some other movie, though. It was 1977 actually (ah, Wikipedia, what would I do without you?) I recall reading it when I was a young lad, and regretting it greatly. Of course it won awards.
