#643
10:52 pm, Sunday, March 5th, 2006Picked up Chrononauts at IF Saturday. Really fun game. Also got a ton of comics, including like six issues of KoDT that I’d missed. BTW, regarding Marvel Zombies: Love the story, love the art, occasionally hate the dialogue. In issue #3 there was a panel where Iron Man says something like “Hey! I can fly now!” as he’s flying. Reminded me of those crappy old superhero comics where the protagonist says what he’s doing while he uses his powers. Just comes off kind of lame and banal.
I don’t particularly like Transformers, but I think I’ll pick up the Hearts of Steel miniseries. Giant, alien robots in 19th century England… who wouldn’t love that?
OGame keeps getting better… I’ve established my first colony and am slowly building a battle fleet. Also developing the necessary technologies to construct cruisers.
Have you seen the live-action Simpsons intro?

That comic needs a grammar check. It should say “There is porn on it”
Damn brits.

Actually, I think either form’s acceptable… after all, you could say “there is a parody of it” or “there is a parody on it.” Both sound right IMHO.

Re: Marvel Zombies.
We really shouldn’t sum up all superhero comic dialogue based on Marvel Zombies. I love Kirkman same as the next fanboy, but Marvel Zombies isn’t the greatest book out there. About zombies. Hell, it’s not even his best book about zombies.
I just don’t want to come to you and say, “Hey, you should check out Ultimate Spider-Man.” Only to hear you say, “Eh. I read Marvel Zombies and didn’t care for it, so I probably won’t like Ult. Spidey.”

I wasn’t talking about ALL supers dialogue — I was just saying that some of the dialogue in the miniseries sucks. When I say “crappy old superhero comics,” I’m talking about stereotypical golden-age stuff. Comics where the heroes say things like “Fear not, chum! I’ll melt Dr. Devious’ deathray with my Heat Vision!”
And besides, I love Marvel Zombies. I just wish they had avoided some of the cheesier lines.
